This is information, not advice

Everything on this site is educational and informational. Nothing here is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing on it is a recommendation to buy or sell anything.

The calculator knows nothing about you — not your income, your debts, your obligations, your tax position or how you would react to losing half your money in a month. It cannot, because you never tell it any of that. A figure it produces is a piece of arithmetic about the past, not a suggestion about your future.

The past is not a forecast

Every number on this site describes something that has already happened. Bitcoin has repeatedly fallen more than 70% from its highs, and those falls lasted long enough to look permanent while they were happening. A result that looks extraordinary across ten years can look very different across the next one. Never risk money you cannot afford to lose.

No guarantee the figures are right

We take accuracy seriously — the calculation is tested against fixed reference cases, and the build fails rather than publishing if its price data has gone stale. That is not the same as a guarantee.

Prices come from third-party sources: daily Bitcoin closes from Bitstamp, and exchange rates from a separate market data provider. Those sources can contain errors, gaps or revisions that we cannot detect. Results use daily closing prices, so they will differ from live market prices and from what any particular exchange would actually have filled at. Nothing here accounts for trading fees, spreads, withdrawal costs or tax, all of which would have reduced a real result.

The site is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind — not of accuracy, completeness, availability or fitness for any purpose.

Your decisions are yours

You are responsible for what you do with anything you read here. To the fullest extent the law allows, we accept no liability for any loss arising from use of this site or reliance on anything it shows you. If you are making a decision that matters, take advice from someone qualified who knows your circumstances.

The site may change or disappear

This is a small site run by one person. Pages, figures, features and this document may change at any time without notice, and the site may become unavailable — temporarily or permanently — for any reason at all. Do not build anything that depends on it being here.

Using the site

You are welcome to read it, use the calculator, and share links to results. Please do not attempt to disrupt it, scrape it at a volume that degrades it for other people, or present its output as though it were your own analysis or ours about your particular situation.

Advertising and third parties

The site carries advertising, and links to third-party sites. We do not control, endorse or take responsibility for advertisements or for anything on a site we link to. The privacy page sets out exactly which third parties are involved.
